Toms River police officers arrested a man who is now accused of lurking in between vehicles and attempting to break into them, Chief Mitch Little said Wednesday.
The incident played out as officers were called to St. Regis Court at 12:50 a.m. for a report of a male wearing a white t-shirt and khaki shorts attempting to enter vehicles parked in the driveway.
As officers checked the area, Ptl. Tyler Pinto located the suspect seated in a vehicle parked in the driveway on Feldmus Lane. The male fled on foot into the woods but was subsequently located in the retention basin, Little said. The suspect was identified as Kristopher Fudali, whose hometown was not included in a statement from police, and who was arrested for multiple vehicle burglaries and theft.
The investigation is continuing and additional complaints are pending, Little said. Fudali, according to police, also had an active warrant for his arrest relating to vehicle burglaries committed on June 29 that were investigated by Detective Jennifer Grob. In addition, the Toms River Police Department has investigated and arrested Fudali “multiple times this year” for the fraudulent use of credit cards, which were stolen from resident’s vehicles.
If anyone has any additional information pertaining to this individual or related crimes, they are asked to contact Grob at 732-349-0150, ext 1319.
