Authorities in Ocean County said Monday that foul play is not suspected in the case of a man whose body was found floating near a Toms River park.
Toms River police officers were called to Shelter Cove Park in Toms River at about 3:05 p.m. Sunday for a report of a deceased individual located in the water adjacent to the coastal marsh. Responding officers discovered the deceased body of a male, later identified as Deane Labranche, 52, of Toms River, floating in the water.
“The decedent was removed from the water and transported to Community Medical Center pending a post-mortem examination,” the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office said in a statement.
In the statement, Prosecutor Bradley Billhimer said that while the death remains under investigation, there “does not appear, at this time, to be any foul play involved.”
