The Jersey Shore may be welcoming spring in the form of a nor’easter this weekend, forecasters predicted.
According to the National Weather Service, rain is likely to begin falling after 2 a.m. Saturday morning. Otherwise, overnight between Friday and Saturday, it will be mostly cloudy, with a low around 41 and a south wind 10 to 15 mph. Up to a quarter-inch of rain could fall during the overnight hours.
The bulk of the storm will strike Saturday, with rain – heavy at times – falling throughout the day. The high will be near 53 with breezy conditions alongside the rain. New precipitation amounts between 1 and 2 inches are possible, the NWS said.
Rain will continue Saturday night into Sunday, though mainly before 2 a.m. The rain, again, could be heavy at times. The overnight low is forecast to hover around 37 degrees, with windy conditions remaining.
“Windy conditions may cause isolated instances of tree damage and power outages on Sunday,” a hazardous weather outlook statement from the NWS said.
A chance of rain will continue Sunday, though morning clouds will give way to partly sunny skies later in the day, with a high near 47. Windy conditions will continue.
The sun will continue shining into next week, however breezy conditions are expected to stick around the Shore area at least until this Tuesday.
