Toms River has published its periodic police blotter, featuring a sampling of calls to which the department responded recently.

Feb. 15, 2024
Theft – A resident of Jackson Township was arrested by the New Jersey State Police and dropped off at the Toms River Police Department jail on the strength of a theft warrant from TRPD. They were processed and sent to the Ocean County Jail.
DWI – CDS – A Toms River resident was arrested by the New Jersey State Police at the intersection of Route 37 East and Bowling Green Drive for DWI and possession of crack. He was detained in accordance with John’s Law
Theft – A homeowner on Cedarwood Drive reported that after contractors from a window replacement company installed 4 new windows in her house, she discovered missing jewelry. The investigation is ongoing.
Eluding – The Toms River Police Department conducted a traffic stop on a Toyota Sienna. The vehicle pulled to the side of the road but then accelerated away and drove into oncoming traffic. The officer discontinued pursuit and later identified the operator. A warrant for a 2nd degree charge was issued for the driver.
Search Warrant/ESU Assist – Chatham Ct- ESU, SET, and SOG conducted a search warrant and investigation the former Action building on Rt 37 W. Fifty (50) lbs marijuana/150 pounds of edibles, a half-pound of shrooms and crystal meth and a loaded .45 handgun for certain persons was seized. This is considered an ongoing investigation.
Warrant/Traffic Stop – Bay & Hooper Avenue – A subject was stopped and had a $500 warrant out of Bordentown. ROR completed roadside and given new court date.
JV Problem/Simple Assault – Ocean County Mall – 2 juveniles got into physical fight at OC Mall. No charges were filed. Parents of each child have been notified.
Harassment – Primrose Ct- A male subject was intoxicated and started harassing his mother and her live-in boyfriend. Officers on scene attempted to calm him down and assist the mother back into her residence, which her son did not allow, and continued to harass her in front of officers on scene.
He became completely argumentative and hostile towards officers and his mother. At that time, he was arrested for Domestic Violence Harassment and transported to D1 for processing.
Suspicious Person/Warrant Arrest; Magnolia Gardens – During a suspicious person investigation, subject was found to have multiple out of town warrants out of Trenton and Lakewood. He was placed under arrest for Lakewood warrants (ROR) and roadside ROR for Trenton warrants under $500.

Fraud / Forgery – WaWa; Fischer & Shore: Manager reported an unknown suspect got $20 worth of gas utilizing a fake $100 bill as well as various snacks within the store utilizing a separate $100 bill.
