Route 37 Bridges Twinkle, Ice Glistens at Sunset Before Rain Moves In

The sun broke out for one last moment Tuesday night before several days of rainy weather were poised to approach, along with mild temperatures that will spell the last bits of ice on the surface of the bay for at least the next week.

The twinkling rays of sunshine glistening off sheets of ice – and some snowy sedge islands east of the bridges that connect Toms River and Seaside Heights – were best seen near the causeway, just hours before the first of many rain showers would move in. A video of the impressive colors and scenes of winter beauty can be seen embedded above (note: some ad blockers may interfere with the video player).

While the Shore area will not suffer the effects of coastal storms as it has for the past several weeks, the National Weather Service is calling for generally gloomy – but mild – weather for the next several days, with the sun failing to make any major appearances until next Tuesday.
