An admitted heroin dealer from Lakewood with numerous cases pending before the court was sentenced to a seven-year prison term last week, on top of two separate three-year terms, all of which will run concurrently.

Dayewon Crockam, 23, of Lakewood, will serve all three sentences as part of the seven-year stint in state prison, Superior Court Judge Kimarie Rahill ruled last week. The sentence was announced by the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office on Tuesday.

Crockam previously pleaded guilty to charges of possession of greater than a half-ounce (but less than five ounces ounces) of heroin with intent to distribute, in connection with an investigation that occurred in Lakewood Township between January and September 2022.That charge netted the seven-year sentence.

Additionally, Rahill sentenced Crockam to three years in state prison as a result of his previously-entered guilty plea to possession of crack cocaine in connection with an unrelated investigation that, likewise, occurred in Lakewood in October 2020, and three years in state prison as a result of a previously-entered guilty plea to conspiracy to possess oxycodone without a valid prescription – an offense that occurred in Lakewood in December 2020.

Crockam pled guilty to all charges before the Judge Guy P. Ryan on Oct. 16, 2023.

The charges all related to an investigation into the distribution of heroin, fentanyl and cocaine in the Ocean County area between the months of January and September 2022, conducted by local, county and state authorities. The cooperative investigation identified a residence in Lakewood as being utilized by Crockam to store and distribute illegal narcotics, prosecutors said.

On Sept. 16, 2022, detectives executed a court-authorized search warrant on Crockam’s residence which yielded 2,750 wax folds of heroin/fentanyl, 18 grams of cocaine, a loaded 45 caliber handgun with a laser sight and drum-style extended magazine, drug paraphernalia, and approximately $8,100 in cash.

Crockam has been held in the Ocean County Jail since being taken into custody that day.
