The potential for a large northeast coastal storm has waned since meteorologists first began tracking possible foul weather for the weekend, but it does, indeed, appear the Jersey Shore will experience its fifth wet-weather weekend in a row.

There were no watches, warnings, nor advisories posted by the National Weather Service as of early Friday morning. But rain was on the way. According to the NWS forecast:

Showers, with thunderstorms, will be possible after 8 a.m. Friday, ushering in a rainy day with a high of 66 degrees. Winds will come from the south and gust to about 25 m.p.h., and between a quarter-inch and half-inch of rain is expected to fall. Friday night, a chance of showers and thunderstorms will continue, though the rain will be light (except in isolated thunderstorms) with a low of 57 degrees.

Saturday will bring more rain in the morning before skies clear gradually through the day, with the potential for the sun to break through cloud cover in the late afternoon. It will be breezy, with a west wind of 10 to 15 m.p.h. increasing to 15 to 20 m.p.h. in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 30 m.p.h. The high will be 64 degrees.

The precipitation should move out by Saturday night, leading to a mostly sunny day on Sunday, with a more seasonable high of just 59 degrees. Gusty winds will linger.
