One of the last remaining undeveloped properties along the Fischer Boulevard business corridor will be home to a modern, automated car wash following a decision by the township’s planning board last week.
The car wash will be located on a 1.33-acres parcel at 833 Fischer Boulevard, on the westbound lane of the roadway, just northwest of the Bay Avenue intersection. The property is current wooded, and will give way to the 4,613 square foot facility.
“This is the last vacant parcel of this commercial strip,” said Damien Del Duca, the attorney representing the developer of the project, Hutton 17 St, LLC. “It’s also the missing link in terms of the sidewalk between the adjacent parcels.”
The car was will be environmentally-friendly with an advanced recharge and water recycling system that will run on clean energy sources. The facility is automated, meaning motorists can drive in and the equipment will do its job – no handling of hoses needed. Del Duca also said the facility will be equipped with cameras that can automatically read a tag customers can purchase for an unlimited amount of washes, and intelligently choose which level of washing one’s car is signed up to receive.
“This is one of the last lots on Fischer Boulevard that hasn’t been developed,” said Councilman David Ciccozzi, who also sits on the planning board. “I like the project because it’s environmentally friendly. Any runoff is not going to go in our waterways.”
The board unanimously approved the facility.
