Fire Engulfs Mobile Home in Toms River, No Word on Residents

A fire that broke out in a Toms River mobile home on Thursday is being extinguished, however there were no details revealed on whether anyone was in the unit at the time.

The fire was reported by a 911 caller at about 3 p.m., according to police spokeswoman Jillian Messina, at the Roberts Mobile Home Park, located at 2250 Route 9.

“The caller attempted to alert the homeowner of the fire as they believed that he was still inside,” said Messina. “At the time of police arrival, the home was fully engulfed and the officers attempts to gain entry were unsuccessful due to the heavy smoke conditions and intensity of the flames.”

Multiple Toms River fire companies responded and extinguished the blaze.

It is expected either the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office or the township’s Bureau of Fire Prevention will release more details when they are available. This story will be updated when that occurs.
