Detectives in Toms River and with the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office are investigating a suspected homicide that was the result of multiple gunshot wounds to a local man.
The victim – identified as Jimmy Mosley, 36, of South Toms River – succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at Community Medical Center after he was dropped off at the hospital in a vehicle. The driver of the vehicle then left the scene. A passenger in the vehicle also left the scene on foot, according to a statement from the prosecutor’s office. Police were called to the hospital at about 10:15 p.m. Wednesday.
The statement described the current status of the probe into the slaying as an “active and ongoing investigation” by the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crime Unit, Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office High Tech Crime Unit, Toms River Township Police Department, and Ocean County Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Investigation Unit.
However, “There is no known danger to the public at this time,” the statement said.
