Chipotle Mexican Grill, a global chain of fast-casual Mexican restaurants, is proposing a second location in Toms River.
According to a planning board filing, a developer is proposing a Chipotle restaurant location at 465 Route 37 East, a plot of land located in between the state highway and Washington Street, east of Whittier Avenue, adjacent to an Advance Auto Parts store.
The 2,325 square foot Chipotle restaurant will contain approximately 65 seats and a mobile pick up drive-thru lane. The site plan also includes accessory parking, stormwater management facilities, lighting, landscaping and utilities.
The property is located in the township’s Highway Business Zone. Chipotle is seeking variances for minimum front yard setback, minimum required number of parking spaces, minimum ground sign setback, maximum height of ground sign, and maximum number of wall signs.
Chipotle currently operates one restaurant in Toms River, located at 1258 Hooper Avenue. The chain also has locations in Brick, Wall and Lacey townships.
The proposal will be heard at the April 6, 2022 meeting of the Toms River planning board, which is scheduled for 6 p.m. at the municipal complex on Washington Street.
