Toms River police confirmed a township woman succumbed to injuries sustained during an accident Monday morning.
According to police spokeswoman Jillian Messina, police were dispatched to the intersection of Route 37 and Oak Ridge Parkway for a reported motor vehicle accident at 8:56 a.m. Monday.
According to a police report, Crystal Calpin, 29, of Toms River, was traveling west on Route 37, approaching the intersection of Oak Ridge Parkway when she failed to stop for the red traffic signal.
“Calpin proceeded through the intersection at a high rate of speed and collided with a vehicle travelling south on Oak Ridge Parkway,” the department’s statement said.
Calpin was transported to Community Medical Center, where she succumbed to her injuries. Both occupants of the other vehicle, who have not been identified publicly, were transported to Jersey Shore University Medical Center where they are listed in critical condition.
