The Toms River Police Department is opening up applications for full-time officers.
The department announced the openings Monday. It is set to begin May 1, 2021, and continue through July 31, 2021, for the testing process which will be in September.
“We are looking for qualified applicants who meet strict educational, physical and ethical standards, to take our police test,” said department spokeswoman Jillian Messina. “The recruiting process is ongoing, testing occurs once every 3 years. The department’s requirements to apply include having earned a bachelor’s degree or, alternatively, 64 credits from an accredited college or university combined with two years of military service or prior full-time employment with a police department. Candidates must be between the ages of 18 and 34 and able to meet the physical requirements of the job.
A written exam will administered Sept. 12 and a physical exam and swim test will be held Oct. 24.
