HomeSense, a Canadian chain of discount home furnishing stores, will open its first local retail site at the Ocean County Mall complex this week, the mall’s management announced.
HomeSense will open its 28,000 square foot location Thursday in the northern portion of the mall property, between LA Fitness and Ulta Beauty Supply. That portion is newly-built on what was once a parking lot outside of the now-demolished Sears store. It is not located within the main mall building.
In recent years, HomeSense has gained a loyal following in its home country, plus the U.K. and Ireland, and it is now expanding its U.S. operation. The chain already operates about a dozen stores in New Jersey, including two in Monmouth County.
In the United States market, HomeSense is designed to compliment Home Goods stores, which are owned by the same parent company. It offers a larger selection of furniture, art, and lighting as compared to HomeGoods stores, as well as fixtures.
The Toms River location will be open from 9:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Monday-Saturday and 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Sundays. It will be open from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. for its grand opening Feb. 18, 2021.
