Toms River authorities are looking for a group of real-life Grinches who stole Christmas trees from the property of the Silverton Fire Company. The trees had been reserved and set aside for two families.

The yuletide heist occurred Dec. 11 at about 7:30 p.m., according to the fire company. A surveillance video shows two separate cars, each with two occupants, enter the fire company property and help themselves to a tree. The fire company posted the photos of the suspects on social media a few days later.

“It’s very obvious that we were sold out of trees as the area was dark, no members were present and they even look at the tree sales tags which had a family name and delivery date on it,” the company said in its post.

Anyone who may have any information on the theft is being asked to contact Tom Fischer at tfischer@trfire.org, Sean Walker at swalker@trfire.org, send the company a Facebook message or contact Toms River police.
