Woman’s Body Found off ATV Trail in Wooded Area Behind Holiday City

Authorities are trying to identify a woman whose body was found in a wooded area in Berkeley Township. Specifically, the body, which belonged to an elderly woman, was found in a wooded area along an ATV trail, approximately one-and-a-half mile south of Township Line Road in Berkeley Township. The area is a preserved portion located behind the Holiday City at Berkeley development and across from the Ocean County Airport.

Responding officers found the body “in advanced stages of decomposition,” a statement from the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office said.

The Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crime Unit, Berkeley Township Police Department, Ocean County Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Investigation Unit, and Ocean County Medical Examiner’s Office are currently investigating this matter.

“We are working to positively identify this female and will release more information once we do,” said prosecutor Bradley Billhimer. “At this point in time, there is no reason to believe there is any foul play involved her untimely and tragic death.”
