Toms River Shooting Victim, 19, Succumbs to Injuries; ID’d by Authorities

The victim of a shooting at an apartment complex on Main Street in Toms River has died, authorities said Thursday.

Prosecutors identified the victim as 19-year-old Javon Cutler, of Bayville. Cutler passed away Wednesday night at about 7 p.m. at Jersey Shore University Medical Center following Oct. 11 shooting. An autopsy was scheduled for Thursday afternoon.



Investigators have not made any arrests in the case and are still seeking tips from the public to help solve it.

According to a joint statement from the prosecutor’s office and Toms River police, investigators believe that at about 8:15 p.m. Sunday, Cutler and two friends were leaving the Toms River Apartments on Main Street when an unknown individual opened fire on the their vehicle.

Cutler, who was seated in the rear passenger seat, was struck in the head during the shooting.  The driver of the vehicle drove directly to Community Medical Center.  Cutler was subsequently transported to Jersey Shore Medical Center.
