The Ocean County Health Department has confirmed the second presumptive case of coronavirus in Ocean County.
According to officials, the patient who tested positive case for coronavirus, or COVID-19, in Ocean County, is a pregnant female from Toms River. She is currently in stable condition, reportedly at Community Medical Center.
The patient’s name, age and hometown were not divulged by health authorities.
“The Ocean County Health Department continues to work with all partners around the clock and through the weekend to help contain and mitigate the spread of this virus,” said Daniel Regenye, OCHD Public Health Coordinator.
Toms River Mayor Maurice “Mo” Hill, who is a board member at Community, was notified earlier today. He urged people “to remain calm and practice proper hand hygiene and other disease prevention actions including social distancing.”
OCHD said social distancing is especially important as Toms River schools recently announced their temporary school closure beginning on Monday.
“Hill stressed that we all need to do our part and not put those at highest risk in jeopardy of contracting this virus,” a statement said.
