Local Walmart Stores to Require Employee Fever Check Before Entering

Employees at Toms River’s Walmart store will be required to submit to a fever check before being allowed to enter under a new policy the store intends to put in place as soon as equipment arrives.

The megastore said today in a statement to Shorebeat that it will begin sending infrared thermometers to all stores, clubs and distribution centers. It will take up to three weeks for thermometers to arrive. Once thermometers are there, Walmart will begin taking the temperature of its associates as they report to work. The measures are being taken to prevent the spread of novel coronavirus, which often carries fever as a symptom.



Walmart is sending masks and gloves to all its stores, clubs and distribution centers, the statement said, though employees can choose whether or not they wish to wear them. The store is also requiring the common “social distancing” measures, advising both employees and customers to stay six feet apart, wash their hands for at least 20 second with soap and warm water and require anyone with a body temperature over 100 degrees to stay home.
