The McDonald’s fast food chain has applied to the township’s planning board to expand drive-through operations at the establishment and make several other changes to its property at 843 Fischer Boulevard.
According to planning board documents, McDonald’s is seeking to change the existing, single-lane drive-through to a dual-lane (side-by-side) drive-through configuration; install new drive-through signage, menu boards and structures; modify landscaping; and make site improvements to the parking areas and sidewalks to comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act.
The application will require several variances, the most significant of which is a side yard setback of 107 feet is requested where 50 feet is permitted. There will also be 47 parking spaces where 100 would normally be required and menu signage would be over the limit of seven pieces of information per sign board. More than 10 sign boards, the current township limit, would be placed outside the restaurant.
Several variances take into account pre-existing conditions. The hearing is scheduled for Feb. 5 at 6 p.m. at the township municipal complex on Washington Street.
