Showers on Tuesday will represent the leading edge of a cold front that will plunge temperatures into the teens – with wind chills even worse, forecasters at the National Weather Service said.

The NWS’s forecast for Ocean County calls for showers, mainly before 1 p.m. Tuesday. After the rain comes to an end, winds will increase to 10-18 m.p.h. with gusts up to 30 m.p.h., and the mercury will fall rapidly – to just 35 degrees by 5 p.m.

The temperature will continue to plunge throughout the night Tuesday into Wednesday, with an overnight low of 19 degrees, the NWS forecast said. Gusty winds will continue throughout the night, bringing wind chills into the low teens. The sun will return Wednesday, however the Shore area will barely break the freezing mark with a high of 34 degrees.
