Toms River police evacuated the ShopRite store on Route 37 Wednesday night after a bomb threat was called in to the supermarket.
Multiple police units were dispatched to the ShopRite store off routes 37 and 166 following the 7:07 p.m. call, said police spokeswoman Jillian Messina. The threat came via telephone.

The building and parking lot were evacuated and Toms River Police, as well as Ocean County Sheriff’s officers with bomb-sniffing K9s, checked the area and store for explosives, yielding negative results. There was no threat the public. Police are now investigating the origin of the call, Messina said.
