Police in Toms River are investigating a report of a strong-arm robbery outside of the 7-Eleven convenience store at the corner of Washington Street and Whittier Avenue.
According to a statement from police, officers were called to the store at 9:50 a.m. Wednesday. When they arrived, the victim, Raymond Graziosi said he was walking on Washington Street when a male in a white Volkswagon Jetta or Passat with tinted windows stopped his car to offer him a ride.
“When he refused the ride the male got out of the car and demanded all of Mr. Graziosi’s money,” said police spokeswoman Jillian Messina. “Mr. Graziosi specified the male held his left hand in his jacket in an attempt to make it look like he had a weapon although no weapon was shown.”
Graziosi was not injured during the robbery. He described the driver as a black male with short hair and short dreadlocks, wearing dark pants and a gray jacket. He described the passenger in the car as a black male with a black jacket and dark skull cap covering his head.
