Beach replenishment crews have completed pumping operations in two areas there were under construction.
Toms River’s north beach neighborhoods, from Normandy Beach down through the Ocean Beach communities and neighboring associations, now have fully-replenished beaches and pumping is no longer ongoing. Currently, crews are busy installing dune crossovers and will eventually plant dune grass to anchor the 22 foot-high dune in place.
Work was completed in the north beaches Dec. 29. Up the island in Mantoloking, the northernmost portion of that town had replenishment completed Dec. 24.
As it current stands, beachfill operations are ongoing in Seaside Heights and Seaside Park. Officials from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers have backed off previously-announced dates for replenishment to begin in Lavallette, South Seaside Park, Bay Head and Point Pleasant Beach. A new schedule will be announced in “the coming weeks,” the agency said.
