A Beachwood man who pleaded guilty to possessing child pornography at his home has been sentenced to a six month jail term, prosecutors announced Thursday.

Anthony J. Mauro, 45, of Compass Avenue, will also have to submit to lifetime parole supervision under the sentence imposed by Superior Court Judge Therese A. Cunningham.

Mauro’s sentence stems from an investigation by the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office High Tech Crime Unit into the “downloading and sharing of images of prepubescent children engaged in sexual acts over the internet,” a statement from the prosecutor’s office said.

Detectives from the High Tech Crime Unit initiated a month-long investigation and executed a search warrant at 537 Compass Avenue in Beachwood in Aug. 2017. The search and subsequent forensic examination of computers located within the residence revealed over 100 videos and images of child pornography.

At the time of his arrest, Mauro was believed to be a volunteer Youth Team Leader for the Saint Barnabas Catholic Church in Bayville, according to the prosecutor’s office.

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) and Beachwood Police Department provided assistance to Ocean CountyProsecutor’s Office High Tech Unit in its investigation, the prosecutor’s office said.
