Toms River police are investigating an armed robbery that occurred after midnight July 5.
According to police spokeswoman Jillian Messina, an unknown white male entered the Shell gas station located at Routes 9 and 571 and brandished a handgun and demanded money from the clerk.
The clerk complied with his demands and the suspect was able to leave with an undetermined amount of cash from the register, Messina said. The suspect was described as a white male in his late 20s or early 30s with a reddish beard, wearing a backpack with all dark clothing.
