A new commercial development in Toms River would bring an Aldi supermarket and Tractor Supply Company home improvement store to the township.
Gateway 70 LLC, the owner of the plot of land on which the development is proposed, filed documents with the planning board to propose the stores at 80 Route 70 East, near Massachusetts Avenue. According to the filing, Gateway 70 will request the township adjust the lot lines between two plots that will make up the shopping center and approve the development.
The plan will require several variances from the township’s zoning board, including relief from the minimum buffer area of 50-feet between lots. No buffer is included in the site plan. The developer will also be seeking variances for minimum lot coverage requirements as well as several setbacks.
A hearing on the proposal will be held at 6 p.m. Aug. 1 at the township municipal complex on Washington Street.
