A Lakewood man is in critical condition after losing control of his motorcycle on Route 37 Thursday, police said.
The accident occurred at 2:43 p.m., when the 26-year-old motorcyclist – who has not been identified pending notification of his family members – lost control of the vehicle after making what police described as a “high speed lane change.”
The bike then crashed into the back of a 2009 Toyota that was traveling in the center lane, near the Gateway Toyota dealership. The driver of that car, a 77-year-old Lavallette woman, was not injured.
The motorcyclist’s injuries were described as serious, and he was in critical condition at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune, where he was flown by medevac helicopter, police said.
The crash is being investigated by Toms River Traffic Safety Officers Adam Koeppen and Pascal Gambardella.
