Car Catches Fire in Toms River Walgreens Parking Lot

Police are investigating the cause of a fire that destroyed a car in the parking lot of a township Walgreens store.

The March 28 fire occurred at 10 p.m., said police spokesman Ralph Stocco, at the Walgreens store at 2353 Route 9.

Upon arrival, firefighters and police officers saw flames from the engine compartment of a silver Honda Accord, Stocco said. Pleasant Plains Volunteer Fire Department quickly extinguished the fire.



The owner stated that he parked his car in the lot went inside shopping. He returned to find the vehicle on fire, said Stocco. Officers Michael Weg and Matthew Crosta are conducting the investigation.

“There is no indication of any criminal activity in this incident,” said Stocco.
