Police say one person died Monday night when their car crashed into a tree.
According to police spokesman Ralph Stocco, officers were called to to Washington Street and Clifton Avenue at 8:52 p.m. They arrived to find a 2006 Mini Cooper had struck a tree, causing extensive damage. The driver was already deceased upon police arrival, Stocco said. The passenger had multiple injuries and was taken to a local hospital for treatment.
The vehicle, which was traveling eastbound, was not being operated by the registered owner and police have not yet made contact with the driver’s family, thus the driver’s name has yet to be released publicly.
Further information will be released as it becomes available, Stocco said.
