Police say a dispute between two acquaintances led to one of the suspected men pulling a gun.

Toms River police say the incident took place Jan. 19 at about 11:20 p.m. near the corner of Route 9 and Indian Head Road. It was determined, police say, that an argument developed in which James Adams, 28 of Toms River, allegedly threatened the other individual with a silver handgun.

Prior to fleeing the area, he is suspected of puncturing the other driver’s tires with an unknown object, according to a statement from police. Complaints have been signed against Adams for aggravated assault with a firearm, terroristic threats, and criminal mischief.
