The body of a 24-year-old Slovak woman who went missing in the ocean early Sunday morning was believed to the found at about 11:50 p.m. in the surf near the Ocean Beach 2 development in Toms River’s North Beach portion of the barrier island.

Ralph Stocco, spokesman for the Toms River Police Department, said authorities believe the body is that of Zuzana Oravcova, who was reported missing in Point Pleasant Beach around 2:30 a.m. Sunday.  Oravcova entered the ocean in Point Pleasant Beach with a male companion in the early morning hours of July 30.  She never exited the water and an extensive search was conducted with no results. The search was called off just about an hour before the body washed up.

The body was found when an off duty Ocean Beach lifeguard was walking on the beach when observed something where the waves were breaking at the shoreline, Stocco said. He used his cell phone light to see what it is was and he realized that it was a deceased person. He notified the police department and Officer Jesse Robertazzi responded, along with other officers and medical personnel, to the ocean front and East Shell Way, Stocco said.
