Maria Maruca will vie for another term on the Toms River Township council after winning a hard-fought Republican primary battle with political newcomer Justin Lamb.
Lamb garnered 35 percent of the vote – impressive for a candidate who did not have party support – but 59 percent of GOP voters chose Maruca, the incumbent. Maruca won by about 400 votes – she received 920 compared to Lamb’s 550.
Maruca will face Anthony L. Colucci, a Democrat, in the general election, Colucci was unopposed in his bid to represent his party in November.
