Two men burst into a township motel room earlier this week and attacked two others inside with a screwdriver, Toms River police said.
The incident occurred Monday at 9:30 p.m. at the Pier One Motel, said police spokesman Ralph Stocco. The assailants, both described as African American and wearing dark colored clothing, brandished the screwdriver as they broke through the door.
The motel occupant, a 42-year-old man who resides in Brick, was stabbed with the screwdriver below his eye, Stocco said. His 28-year-old female companion, from Seaside Heights, suffered an apparent collar bone fracture.
The suspects fled, possibly in a silver vehicle with New York license plates. Nothing was taken during the incident and both victims were treated and released from a local hospital, Stocco said.
