Longtime Ward 1 Councilwoman Maria Maruca has her party’s support for re-election, however she is facing a primary challenge within the GOP ranks.

Maruca, of Waters Edge Drive, is being challenged by Chris Grimes, Nautilus Drive, and Justin Lamb, Buermann Avenue.

Her Democratic opponent will be Anthony Colucci, of Coolidge Avenue in Ortley Beach, a street that was particularly devastated during Superstorm Sandy.
