At the strike of midnight Friday, Yankees fans in Ocean County breathed a sigh of relief – YES Network popped back on the air for the first time since late 2015.
The first game to be broadcast on the network will be an exhibition game between the Yankees and Atlanta Braves to ceremonially open the Braves’ new SunTrust Park, at 7:30 p.m.
With the exception of portion of the barrier island and Lakewood, all of Ocean County is covered by Comcast. The sparring between the two companies lasted over a year – YES blamed greed on the part of Comcast, and Comcast blamed YES for raising per-subscriber fees that would have to be passed on to customers. Customers with Verizon FiOS and DirecTV were not affected, nor were Optimum customers in the Toms River portions of the barrier island.
The Yankees will officially open their season April 2, Sunday, against the Tampa Bay Rays.
YES Network can be found on channel 844.
