Toms River officials will hold a hearing on the township’s updated master plan later this month with an emphasis on affordable housing.
The master plan, which sets for a template for future development town-wide, is currently in the process of being updated. The major issues residents have identified is growth in the once-rural western portion of the township as neighboring Lakewood grows exponentially, and how to manage growth in Ortley Beach, which is becoming an increasingly year-round community as small bungalows give way to larger, raised homes.
The township’s planning board will hold a hearing Feb. 15 at 7 p.m. at the township municipal complex, 33 Washington Street. The meeting will focus on the adoption of the Amended Toms River Township Housing Element and Fair Share Plan as part of the Master Plan of Toms River Township and to consider the adoption of the amended Periodic Reexamination Report Update and Land Use Element Update of the Master Plan.
Public comment will be accepted at the meeting.
