Toms River officials are readying a street in the East Dover section to be raised in order to prevent flooding.
Last week, the township council authorized Township Enginer Robert J. Chankalian to execute an Ocean County Soil Conservation District Soil Erosion and Sediment Control Plan Certification Application Form for the Creek Road Roadway Elevation Project.
Like another street slated to be raised in the Ortley Beach section, Township Administrator Paul Shives said the street will be raised between one foot and a foot and-a-half and crowned in order for water to be able to drain properly and not accumulate on the roadway and adjacent properties.
The township has not yet sought bids for the project. It is only in the initial permitting stage.
