Toms River’s governing body will reorganize for 2017 Tuesday night, largely a formality to make reappointments and reauthorizations, but also to welcome newcomers to the dais.

Councilman Kevin Geoghegan, appointed to fill the Ward 2 council seat last year, will be sworn in to his first elected term, which will last one year until a full-term seat is available.

The council is also expected to introduce an ordinance that would place the Division of Code Enforcement under the auspices of the Department of Parks, Buildings and Grounds.

The reorganization meeting will begin at 6 p.m. at the township municipal complex.

The Toms River Regional Board of Education will also reorganize for 2017 this week. The board will meet at 6 p.m. at Toms River High School North, where Janet Bell, of Toms River, Daniel Leonard, of Beachwood, and Russell Corby, of Pine Beach, will be sworn in to their seats.

Both the municipal council and school board will also choose the board president and vice presidents for the year ahead.
