Majority ruled at the Toms River Regional school board’s reorganization meeting Wednesday night, with a former board president retaking the gavel.
Board member Ben Giovine was elected board president in a 6-3 vote. Loreen Torrone was elected as the board’s vice president by the same margin.
Giovine received votes from board members Russell K. Corby, Gigi Esparza, Robert Onofrietti, Giovine himself, and newly-elected member Janet Bell.
Board member Christopher Raimann was also nominated as board president. Had it come to a vote, presumably Raimann himself, Daniel Leonard and Joe Nardini would have supported him. Bell, Leonard and Coby were all sworn in to their board terms at the meeting.
“I look forward to working with the entire board this year to continue the good work we’ve been doing,” Giovine said.
