A week of wacky weather is ahead, forecasters at the National Weather Service said, with conditions ranging from 50-degree sunny days to a small amount of accumulating snow possible one night.
Before checking out the forecast, you can see the brief – but very unique – sunset we caught Saturday night on Barnegat Bay.
According to the NWS forecast, Monday will begin cloudy, then gradually becoming mostly sunny, with a high near 50 degrees. A light west wind around 5 mph, becoming south, will be present in the afternoon. Overnight, clouds will increase with a low of 35 degrees.
Things will begin to (slowly) get interesting Tuesday, with mostly cloudy skies, and a high near 39 degrees. Northwest winds will move 5 to 10 mph, but gusts as high as 20 mph will enter the picture by the end of the day.
Overnight between Tuesday and Wednesday, precipitation is forecast to move in. There will be a chance of rain and snow between 1 a.m. and 4 a.m., then a chance of snow after 4 a.m. The “rain-snow line” may be heavily localized, however, and some areas a bit closer inland will not see the initial rainfall. Still, the snow event is not expected to cause significant issues, given that there will be a 40 percent chance of precipitation, and new snow accumulation are predicted to total less than a half-inch. The overnight low will be 31 degrees, which could, of course, lead to icy conditions in the morning.
Wednesday, during the day, will be sunny with a high of 35 degrees, before the temperature falls to 28 degrees overnight.
Thursday, the NWS forecast said, will be partly cloudy with a high of 40 degrees, dipping into the 20s overnight with some cloudiness, before rebounding slightly to a high of 34 degrees under sunny skies during the day on Friday.
