Toms River Firefighters Cut Woman Out of Crashed Vehicle

Toms River firefighters extricated a woman from a crashed vehicle on Fischer Boulevard earlier this week, officials said.

According to a statement issued Wednesday, on March 13 at 3:48 p.m. firefighters from East Dover and Silverton Volunteer Fire Companies were dispatched to the area of Fischer Boulevard near Shore Boulevard for a motor vehicle accident with entrapment.



East Dover Fire Chief Joe Catapano and Silverton Fire Chief John Keating arrived on scene to find a female driver unresponsive and trapped in her vehicle. Firefighters from Ladder 2865, East Dover, stabilized the vehicle, ultimate removing the driver side door and roof with hydraulic rescue tools. Squad 2931, Silverton, also assisted with the extrication.

The joint efforts of the two fire companies resulted in the extrication of the victim in 17 minutes.

The woman was taken to Jersey Shore University Medical Center where the extent of her injuries were not known.

The crash remains under investigation.
