UPDATE 1:25 A.M.: FROM TRPD – “The female has been safely located and transported to the hospital for treatment. The shelter in place is now lifted.”

Toms River police issued a warning to residents who live in and around the Edgewood and Silver Ridge apartment complexes.

According to a short statement issued by police at 9 p.m. Monday, officers were actively searching for a suicidal female armed with a handgun in the wooded area behind Edgewood apartments, and the access road that runs along the power lines behind the Silver Ridge apartment complex.

“We are asking the residents in that area to please shelter in place for the time being,” the statement said.
