Toms River Police Investigating Confrontation Outside Wawa Store

Toms River police are investigating an encounter between three men outside a township Wawa store in which one man said a gun was shown.

According to a statement from Toms River police, on Tuesday, March 23 at approximately 1 a.m., a man approached Officer Tyler Pinto as he pulled into the parking lot of a Wawa store on Route 37 near the intersection with Hooper Avenue.



The victim advised Pinto that moments earlier he was robbed while attempting to get on his bicycle outside of the store. He stated a handgun was shown as two male suspects robbed him before leaving the area.

“An investigation revealed an interaction between the three men did take place outside the store prior to the officers arrival, there was no incident inside the store,” the statement said. “The incident remains under investigation.”

Police urged residents to monitor the department’s social media platforms for “accurate accounts of incidents that may occur in our town.”
