The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory until 12 noon Thursday, calling for between 2-5 inches of snow to fall in the Ocean County region overnight and Thursday morning.

A winter storm is tracking to the west of the Shore area, meaning locations along the I-95 corridor are more likely to receive higher amounts of accumulating snow. According to the NWS forecast for coastal Ocean County, snow is forecast to move in from the west by late Wednesday night, continuing through the Thursday morning commute, before shifting east of the area by the midday hours.

“Although snow rates will not be particularly high, temperatures are expected to be below freezing, so roads and sidewalks are expected to become snow-covered,” the advisory said.

Precipitation will mostly end by 10 a.m. Thursday and the advisory expires at 12 noon. Lows Thursday night will dip into the teens, giving way to a partly sunny, but frigid, Friday with a high of just 29 degrees.
