A coastal storm will bring about 2-inches of rain, plus gusty winds to the Jersey Shore region late Friday night into Saturday, the National Weather Service said. A gale warning was also in effect for Saturday, with wave heights of 6-9 feet expected.

“A storm system will affect the region tonight into Saturday bringing a period of heavy rain along with strong winds,” the NWS office in Mount Holly said Friday. “The rain could be heavy enough to result in flooding, especially near the coast as it may fall leading up to the time of Saturday morning`s high tide.”

Northwest winds gusting up to 45 m.p.h. during the day Saturday could also result in power outages.
