Toms River police are investigating a bank robbery that occurred Thursday morning at a Bank of America branch on Route 37, authorities said.
Police were dispatched to the Bank of America at Bananier and Route 37 for a report of a bank robbery at 10:15 a.m, said police spokeswoman Jillian Messina. According to Messina, the suspect entered the bank and demanded money from the teller, stating he had a gun.
“There was no weapon shown and the suspect left on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash,” Messina said.
The suspect was described as a white male, approximately 5’8 to 5’10 with a medium build. He was wearing a gray Polo hooded sweatshirt, gray and black gloves, a tan baseball hat, sunglasses, a camouflage bandana over his face, and carrying a leopard print bag.
The Toms River Police Detective Bureau, Ocean County Sheriff’s Department CSI and Berkeley police were on scene to investigate the incident. The Investigation is ongoing, Messina said. Anyone with information can contact Toms River Detective Mark Bajada at 732-349-0510, ext. 1241.
