The ongoing beach and dune-building project in Ortley Beach moved closer to public beaches and will soon approach the former Surf Club site.
As it currently stands, beach entrances at Fort, Coolidge and Harding avenues, plus two unnamed private crossovers are currently closed. The project is moving south-to-north and is expected to reach the primary public beaches soon.
Large sand piles sat on the beachfront Tuesday as spectators looked on at the ongoing project. The dredge boat EW Ellefson is conducting the project.
