St. Joseph’s and Donovan Catholic parochial schools will go before the Toms River Zoning Board April 18 seeking approval for plans to build a new maintenance building and an athletic training center.

The minor site plan is for the lots at 411 and 409 Lexington Avenue, on the edge of the schools’ campus off Lafayette Avenue and behind Hooper and Terrace Avenues.

The one building, for lawn and facility maintenance, would measure 2,400 square feet in size. The larger building is for the athletic training facility, at 4,500 square feet.

The plan also requires several variances to go forward. The athletic building is a half foot over the maximum building height of 16 feet. And the buildings are a foot less distance away from another building than what is required, which is 5 feet.

The two buildings also need a variance for their square footage, since zoning allows for accessory buildings to be a maximum 750 square feet.

The application is scheduled for the April 18 zoning board meeting, at 6 p.m. in Toms River town hall.
