Three Seriously Injured in Toms River Accident

Three people were injured in a serious car accident in toms River that occurred Friday, police said.

 According to police spokeswoman Jillian Messina, at approximately 9:32 a.m., police units were dispatched to the intersection of Route 70 and Whitesville Road for a serious motor vehicle accident.  



Barbara Bane, 55 of Ocean Gate, was westbound in the left turn-only lane of Route 70, attempting to make a left turn at the intersection of Whitesville Road when she collided with Katelynn Kline, 21 of Manchester, who was eastbound in the right lane of Route 70 proceeding straight ahead.

Both drivers suffered serious injuries as well as Bane’s rear seat passenger. All occupants were taken to Jersey Shore Medical Center. Bane was transported by medevac helicopter and is listed in critical condition.

The accident is being investigated by Traffic Safety Officer Terry Warren.
